3D-Modeling
Intro
In 3D modeling, we primarily use Blender. Through class, we learn Blender techniques, and functionality, and do exercises to help everyone become more proficient with the software.
In this blog post, I will share my practice results and progress on the class model.
Class exercise 1:
In the first lesson, we mainly learned how to use cubes, toruses, and spheres to create a small frog. We practiced arranging the cubes and transforming the size and position of different objects to build the frog model. Finally, we rendered and colored the small frog.
(I made it less like a frog and more like a lizard😂)
Class exercise 2:
After that, in class, we learned how to create a column and how to use repeated columns to form a corridor. In these lessons, we mainly practiced using extrude faces, inset faces, modifiers → fixed count → 360, lighting, and the camera. At first, when making the initial column, I felt overwhelmed and struggled to control the scaling. However, with practice, I gradually gained the ability to control its size more freely. When I finally created a circular corridor, I felt a great sense of accomplishment, which also boosted my confidence to continue exploring and learning Blender.
Exercise 1:
This exercise was mainly about practicing how to use cubes, cones, spheres, and toruses. Since I wasn't very proficient at first, I followed online tutorials for modeling and rendering. However, during the actual practice, I realized that I struggled with accurately positioning the objects' angles, directions, and depths; which made the final product's eyes look very strange. Despite this, the exercise helped me better understand the use of models and the placement of lighting.
Exercise 2:
In the second exercise, I used cubes, cylinders, spheres, and other objects to create a set of kitchenware. I aimed to create colorful glass bottles and enhance their texture with patterns on the surface.
Exercise 3:
In the third exercise, I mainly used cubes, cylinders, and planes to create a small race car. The overall body is light purple. During the process, I used techniques such as extrude faces, inset faces, modifiers, knife, and Boolean operations. However, I referred to other tutorial videos for the wheel creation. During the process, there was an issue with layer merging, which caused some problems in handling the layers.

Project 1:
In Project 1, I chose to create a treasure chest, which we made in class. During the process of learning to create the treasure chest, I learned to use techniques such as "knife," "loop cut and slide," "relationship → parent," and "bridge." However, towards the end of the process, I followed the steps to select all objects and chose "object → apply → all transforms." I'm not sure where I made a mistake, which caused my treasure chest to be unable to open.
Despite this issue, I still learned a lot and gained a great deal from the process of creating the treasure chest.
In the project 2, I choose to import my architectural model into "spacial io" to arrange plants and furniture.
However, when I was in practice, I found that some furniture and plants imported and downloaded in "spacial io" could be saved while others could not. So I tried this part several times.
In the process of actual operation, I have increased a lot of understanding of spacial io. It was also during the process of blending that I found that my model was inappropriate or illogical, so I could go back to blender and debug it.

Project 3
In project 3, we made a character model. I made a cartoon character of a cat based on the picture.
In fact, in the process of production, my patience was challenged a lot and I needed to constantly debug. However, I was weak in this aspect and not very good at detailed work, so this assignment had a good practice to improve my adjustment of details and understanding of the role.

Conclusion
Learning 3D-Modeling helped me at interactive spacial design to actually model the house and furniture I wanted to build using blender, which was the biggest help for me.
Secondly, it also made me realize that the process of learning design or modeling is actually a process of constant debugging and change, and only constant adjustment can finally produce a satisfactory work.
I hope I can constantly adjust myself and my works in the future learning process, so that I can achieve better results.
